What the app uses
Location permission While Using the App. ClearSpeed reads location while it is open on screen to calculate speed and trip totals. It does not request background location and stops reading location when you leave the app.
What it stores on the device
- Your settings (unit, appearance, HUD mirror, Battery Saver, keep-screen-awake).
- Saved trip summaries when you tap End Trip: start and end time, duration, distance, average speed, and max speed.
It does not store route maps or raw location samples. You can clear all saved trips from Settings → History → Clear History.
What it never does
- No account or sign-in
- No advertising or analytics SDKs
- No tracking across apps or websites
- No location upload to the developer or anyone else

How to check other apps
On any App Store page, scroll to App Privacy. Labels are self-reported by developers, but "Data Used to Track You" is a clear signal that data may be shared for advertising. Several popular free speedometers carry that label; see the comparison.
